Spring Malting Barley Conference – 6th December 2022

Spring Malting Barley Conference

We would like to invite you to the Southern Spring Malting Barley Conference to be held on:

Tuesday 6th December at our usual venue The Norton Park Hotel, Norton Park, Sutton Scotney, Winchester. SO21 3NB

Registration, breakfast pastries and coffee from 9:15 a.m. The meeting will commence at 10:00 a.m.

Lunch will be provided and the conference will close at 4.00 p.m. with tea and cake.

If you are growing spring malting barley in the South and West, this is an event not to be missed. We bring together expertise in the subjects of crop breeding, crop management, crop marketing and (vitally) the requirements of the end user. The perspective ranges from local to global as we review and learn from trials information gathered over several years on our own soil types in Hampshire and Dorset, but also consider the global forces which shape the market we seek to satisfy.

Contributors will include –

Jack Watts – Agri-Food Policy Delivery Manager at NFU discussing global markets

Joe Bagshaw – Field Technical Specialist – Syngenta UK Ltd who will review local trial results from both Hampshire and further afield.

Jonathan Arnold – Director Robin Appel Ltd who will summarise the global malting supply, current markets and prospects for 2023.

Allan Wilkinson – Head of Agrifoods HSBC who will discuss the food and beverage market in the UK and elaborate on the malting barley, beer and whisky markets.

Kathryn Hamlen – Seeds Marketing Manager – Syngenta Seeds who will update us on current and new varieties in the pipeline.

We look forward to seeing you there.
