Organics
Robin Appel Ltd entered the Organic market in 2002 in order to source Organic malting barley for the new acquisition, Warminster Maltings Ltd. The opportunity to develop a complete portfolio of Organic grain trading quickly became apparent and today the company has become the foremost supplier of Organic milling wheat, milling oats, malting barley and feed grain. We supply all the UK millers, processors and compounders, and are developing exciting new export opportunities for the organic arable sector.
Organic food sales in the UK have almost recovered their pre-2008 levels, at close to £2bn per annum (Feb 2016), and artisan foods remain in the ascendancy, and many favour Organic. Careful targeting of Organic cereals production will be critical to maintaining demand and competitive premiums. Working closely with farmers throughout the UK to ensure the correct crops are grown for specific markets. Robin Appel Ltd view this as a vital part of the food supply chain management, to ensure the grower has the confidence to plant the crops required.
In 2013 Robin Appel Ltd join forces with Camgrain Stores Ltd, to reignite the organic market, by giving the millers, processors and compounders confidence within the organic cereal market. Camgrain Stores Ltd is a farmer-owned central storage Co-operative, established in 1983, specialising in adding value to crops at their Advance Processing Centres (APC), which are located throughout England. They aim to provide a seamless supply chain service for our farmer-members, from combine to customers.
