Modern Slavery Act
Modern slavery and human trafficking are violations of human rights. ROBIN APPEL LTD is committed to ensuring to the best of its ability that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of its supply chain.
We are grain merchants and storekeepers involved in the agricultural sector principally in the arable market. We buy grain from farmers and sell to end users in the malt, whisky, milling and animal feed markets. We also sell seed, fertiliser, chemicals and other crop inputs to farmers. All our operations are UK based.
ROBIN APPEL LTD recognises that agriculture has been identified as a high-risk industry for modern slavery and takes seriously its duty to ensure that our business and supply chain are free from it. We have long established policies in place to ensure the safety and fair treatment of all our employees.
Our grain traders who deal with our farm suppliers have established long standing working relationships with them and we make clear our expectations of business behaviour. We have provided our staff with an understanding of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and how we expect our farm customers to comply with its rules. When dealing with non-farmer entities in the supply chain we expect these entities to have suitable anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes in place.
ROBIN APPEL LTD encourages its employees to act with integrity and our Whistleblowing policy provides protection to any employee who raises a concern, whether substantiated or not.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our company’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the current year.
The Board of Directors of ROBIN APPEL LTD delegated approval of this statement on its behalf to the Managing Director of the Company at the Board meeting on 6th July 2020.
