Wheat: Feed Wheat

Feed varieties are set to remain dominant, based on their robust agronomics, the price of nitrogen fertilizer, and back to back weather beaten harvests.

JB DIEGO is a very high yielding, hard milling variety added to the HGCA list for 2008. It is a good second wheat, but has a weakness for mildew. Or you could choose DUXFORD, another new listing with the highest yield potential in second wheat trials.

The high yielding hard wheat HUMBER suits the south of England, and might even have potential for low grade milling in a good harvest year. Its stablemate OAKLEY is less robust with a weakness for Eyespot.

Finally, ALCHEMY is proven and widely grown, and another variety which can, in certain circumstances, get promoted from feed to milling.
